Our Story

Grammica Institute began from a desire by our lead teacher Ustadh Yusaf Bhatti to bring his love for Arabic grammar to aspiring students and teach it in a way that makes it easy for them to grasp.  Through 15 years of teaching Ustadh Yusaf was convinced he could open up the world of Arabic grammar to struggling students.

Grammica Institute's goal is to take learners who have some formal Arabic studies to where they can comprehend classical Arabic texts independently

Grammica offers students a structured approach to continue their studies, build upon their current knowledge, and gain confidence in understanding the Muslim scholarly tradition.

If you have some foundational grammar, Grammica Institute can take you from one-line sentences to vocalizing and translating a classical Arabic text such as Ibn Hisham’s Prophetic Sira, Imam al-Ghazali’s Ihya, and Tafsir al-Jalalayn.

We have seen many students spend years floundering in the basics and go on to flourish in the language when given a reliable vehicle.

Grammica Institute is that vehicle.

We help students apply the rules they have learned to classical Arabic texts while honing their formal parsing skills. Along with a time-tested curriculum, we have found this method is the most practical way to improve reading fluency.

At Grammica Institute we offer a unique ijaza (formal permission) program co-signed by Shaykh Ali Hani (link to bio) which is a testament to the student's mastery of the materials covered in the course book.

BILAL CHAUDRY - Project Manager

Studying with Grammica Institute has allowed me to take my Arabic reading to the next level. The small class sizes, one to one attention, and course structure are perfectly suited to my needs as a student with high ambitions yet many other commitments. The years of experience and deep knowledge of the teacher is evident in his ability to sense the specific requirements of each student. After just a few lessons I felt more confident in applying the rules of grammar and morphology I had already learnt, and in translating texts which are over a thousand years old! I would highly recommend Grammica Institute to both aspiring Arabic students as well as those with some experience, who now want to take things further.

He has a way of explaining things that covers the basics and yet, if one so cares, takes you into the depths of Arabic...

Larisa J. - Anthropologist

Ustadhi Yusuf is great to study with. He is easy-going and has a good sense of humor, which helps when one ploughs through Arabic grammar. He has a way of explaining things that covers the basics and yet, if one so cares, takes you into the depths of Arabic, that beautiful and challenging language. What is most remarkable about Yusuf, for a student, is that he is willing and more than capable of tailoring the course of study to one’s special learning needs and affinities. And that’s what you want if you are studying Arabic for the sake of your scholarship or career. I could never tire singing praises to Yusuf’s teaching style and skills.
