Grammica has given over $26,000 in scholarships and  financial aid to students, educators, and scholars in need as of 2025.

Grammica has taught students from around the world from the Foundations to the Advanced levels. Our certificates are co-signed by Shaykh Ali Hani, a well-known authority in Classical Arabic and tafsir sciences.

Each applicant will be individually reviewed by our management team before final decisions are issued by Grammica's Advisory Board. Their awards consist of:

Razi Shaikh
Razi is a doctoral fellow at the Department of Political Science, Freie University Berlin. He is interested in Muslim intellectual history, especially in its South Asia-facing, multilingual trajectory. He enjoys the depth and breadth, intensity and subtlety of Arabic literature, and hopes to read the poetry corpus of Mahmoud Darwish in its original Arabic someday soon. 

Richard Hanna Assaley
Richard is a PhD candidate in Arabic linguistics at UCLA, with a focus on comparative Arabic varieties and the sociopolitics of language. He previously earned his MA in Political Studies from the American University of Beirut, where he began his study of Classical Arabic. Through the Grammica scholarship, he aims to deepen his engagement with the classical tradition and contribute to inclusive, cross-dialectal approaches to Arabic education.

Ruqqayah Lunat
Ruqayyah pursued a Liberal Arts and Islamic Studies degree at Zaytuna College. Her long-term goal is to undertake advanced studies in the Islamic sciences, particularly in usul al-fiqh. She believes that Arabic is the key to unlocking the depth and richness of these disciplines and to accessing the vast body of classical scholarship. With this in mind, she plans to pursue higher education in Arabic and eventually complete a Master’s degree in usul al-fiqh. She is also deeply interested in translation work, aiming to make important Arabic texts more accessible to a wider audience. Through these efforts and the full scholarship she has been awarded by Grammica, she hopes to contribute to the preservation and transmission of Islamic knowledge.

Sayadat Hosen Nihal

Sayadat is a top-ranking student in Arabic Studies at the University of Dhaka. He began studying Arabic at a young age through his Madrasah education and has continued to study it intensively from the secondary level onward. He has studied classical grammar texts from institutions such as Madinah, Al-Azhar, and Damascus universities, and is currently enrolled in Arabic courses at SeekersGuidance and Saudi Electronic University. Deeply passionate about Classical Arabic, he aspires to become an Islamic scholar and translator.

Yahya Lopez
Yahya embraced Islam a few years ago and has since focused on Arabic studies. Over the past two years, he learned to read Arabic, began Qur'an memorization, and studied basic grammar and morphology, developing a strong love for the language. He currently teaches Arabic reading, memorization, and grammar to local converts, drawing on his own experience as a beginner. His goal is to continue studying Arabic in a structured setting to deepen his understanding and better serve his community through his teaching.

Yasmeen is a dedicated homemaker committed to personal growth and Quranic Arabic study. As a recipient of the Grammica Excellence Award, she has shown exceptional promise in Arabic. She supports those in need while balancing her daily responsibilities with devotion to faith and community service.

Advanced (Schol)

Ali Arabaci

Ali  has been serving the Islamic schooling sector in Australia since 2013 and is currently the Head of Campus at one of Australia’s longest-standing Islamic schools. With a background in education, he has dedicated his career to cultivating a more holistic educational experience that is anchored in the Islamic tradition and informed by an Islamic worldview. Ali is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of South Australia, exploring classical Islamic texts on akhlaq development and its implementation in Australian Islamic schools, with his Arabic studies playing a crucial role in his research.


Austin Luebke
Austin is a Muslim convert and PhD candidate specializing in Islamic history and Sufism at Vanderbilt University. He has reached an intermediate level in Arabic but seeks higher proficiency to truly engage with the Qur’an, Prophetic sayings, and classical scholarly works. His goal is lifelong traditional study beyond his PhD. He aims not only to deepen his own connection to the dīn but also to pass sound knowledge to his family, nurturing their understanding and faith. For him, mastering Arabic is essential—without it, the heart remains distant from the tradition’s core.

Intermediate (Schol)
Dr. Kathryn Heidelberger
Dr. Heidelberger is an Assistant Professor of Religion and Philosophy at Berry College in Rome, GA. She is a comparative theological ethicist specializing in the virtue ethical traditions of Christianity and Islam. Her current research project examines the virtuous life in the thought of Thomas Aquinas and Abu Hamid al-Ghazali. As a teacher and scholar, Heidelberger is passionate about equipping students with resources to charitably engage across lines of difference.

Jessica Rugg
Jessica became Muslim while serving in the U.S. military and has since embarked on a dedicated journey of learning, studying various Islamic sciences both in North America and abroad. Recognizing the critical importance of the Arabic language, she remains deeply committed to advancing her proficiency to fully engage with Islamic texts and scholarship.

Jale Engel
Jale is an Islamic Studies teacher and mentor from Sydney, Australia, dedicated to reviving the Ummah by maintaining a deep connection to Allah. She is currently learning the Arabic language to strengthen her personal relationship with the Qur’an and to better guide others in connecting with it. Through her teaching, she strives to inspire a love of Islam by empowering others to fulfill their purpose as vicegerents of Allah on this earth.

Maleeha Asif
Maleeha's long-term goal is to read and understand the Qur'an as well as other Arabic texts on ahadith, seerah, and tafseer. She aims to benefit from the rich Arabic sources and strengthen her connection with the Qur’an by improving her grammar and expanding her vocabulary. Her intention in learning Arabic is to deepen her knowledge of and relationship with the Book of God and the language of Islam.

Essentials (Schol)
Mariam Islam
Mariam has been a student of Arabic and Islamic Sciences for eight years. Her goal is to teach Arabic and highlight the beauty of the language and its sciences by diving deep and uncovering its hidden jewels. With her Arab background, she is also committed to reviving Classical Arabic in the Arab world as a way to preserve it—a promise she holds dearly. She hopes to strengthen her path toward earning an Ijāza through the Grammica Excellence Award.

Sufyan Baki
Sufyan is pursuing a hybrid homeschooling program that includes online Arabic studies at Grammica Institute. He is focused on achieving fluency in spoken Arabic and the ability to study classical texts with teachers.

Foundations (Schol)
Mohammad Saad Baig
Saad looks forward to solidifying his previous exposure to formal Arabic studies and strengthening his ability to memorize key texts such as the Qur’an and Hadith. His hope is to reduce dependency on translations by gaining direct access to the texts through learning with Grammica.
